Born Naeem Iman, the Dallas native developed a passion for music within his household and involvement with junior high school choir. His life was always accompanied with musical interests to a degree, though Track & Field was his main priority just up until the final stretch of his adolescence. Iman eventually decided to hang up the track spikes and focus solely on his vocal interests.
He received a music scholarship for classical vocal performance at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. During his studies, he longed to explore what form of singing he could take outside of formal settings.
In 2015, he moved to Austin where he immersed himself into other creative pockets and interests such as Gong Fu Cha — a Chinese tea practice. He also attended meetup groups within Austin which eventually led to him performing as a lead vocalist for some of the hottest party bands throughout town.
Eager to embark upon the personal chapter of his music journey, Iman is preparing a series of Alt. HipHop vibes that peer into individuality and begging the contemplation: are we truly leading the life that we want to live?
Iman’s upcoming single ‘Change My Mind’ will be dropping on March 15.
